Archaeology in Israel - Proving the Bible

Have you spent any time reading the Bible or Chumash which means the Five Books of Moses? If you have, have you taken note of any references to Israel?

How about Tanach that in addition to the Five BOoks of Moses also includes the Prophets and the Writings - Chumash Neviim and Ketuvim. If you read Tanach, you are bound to come across references to Israel. Information of the connection between the Jews and this precious land.

While many through the ages question the right of the Jewish Nation to exist and where we should live, there are Archaelogical excavations that are proving what is written in the Bible. You do not have to believe what I say, here is a video that provides a little insight into some of the findings of King David in Israel.

I hope that watching the above video will help you to see a little of the beauty of Israel and to hear some of the fascinating and special discoveries taking place in the various excavations. This one relates to King David, but there are of course other discoveries.

The beauty of this special land is definitely something that touches the heart of every Jew no matter how much they try to pretend that they are not Jewish. Somehow we have a connection.

Whether you are already in Israel, are preparing to come to Israel or need some encouragement to do so, let videos such as this one give you the incentive to come home. Come and help us to build the land that G-d gave to the descendants of Avraham, Yitzhak and Yisrael.  But remember, as many in Tanach warn us, we need to keep together AND to live in the land according to G-d's rules. When we do, He fights our battles and blessing comes not only to Israel but to the whole world.

Have a blessed day or evening

On the Road from Rehovot to Yerushalayim

Last week we had the fun of traveling to Rehovot. I was a bit slow in taking photo's I do apologise, but here are two pics of the beautiful countryside seen on the return from Rehovot to Yerushalayim. Actually, there were fields with green, but it was not easy to get to the other side of the bus to photograph. Oh well, it gives something to do on the next trip. In the meantime, enjoy these few pics.

Beautiful country side. The beauty of Israel is certainly one of the BIG positives of living in the Holy Land of Eretz Yisrael.

It's Raining!!

It's been a beautiful few days in Eretz Yirsael. Warm winter sun, not too bright, lovely for getting out and about, seeing the country and completing necessary tasks, chores or errands. But winter in Israel is a time for much needed rain and today we are blessed with rain. Yay!!!

Am I becoming a weather bureaux? NO, but weather and more importantly adequate rainfall in the correct season is part and parcel of life in Israel.

So what's doing with the Kineret. Well the level has fallen over the last few days. It had reached -213. 65 m a few days ago. Today it measures at -213.67 m. The level is higher than it was this time last year by 24 cm, but we need lots more rain. We don''t want the level to fall, we want it to rise, up to the water level that is safe for us here in Israel.

I hope you dont get bored with our weather report. What else is there to life in Eretz Yisrael?

Well I asked some friends what they liked most about Eretz Yisrael.

The answer was:
"The kedusha. You can feel it in the air- before you even land at Ben Gurion."

"I LOVE the old city - I LOVE tzefat, I love the ramat hagolan I love chevron , I LOVE THE KOTEL, I LOVE THE HOLY LAND !!!

"I LOVE SDEREOT I LOVE ITAMAR , I love maale adumim I love nachalot, shall I keep going ??? My love is unending !!"

"I become highly aware of my neshoma, when I have the zechut to be in E"Y. I feel a deeper bond with HKB"HU when I am there"

We'd like to hear from you, our fellow Jew and fellow Oleh or Olah. What do YOU like most about Eretz Yisrael? How are YOUR Aliyah plans coming along? If YOU are already here, how are YOU settling in?

Sukkot in Israel

One of the first phrases or sayings you will learn in ulpan is "All beginnings are hard." People in Israel love to tell you this and almost use it as an excuse as to why not to help you. As we stand now, at the beginning of the new year, 5770, here are some images to help to give you strength.

When things get tough, as they do in life, hold onto times such as this one. It is currently Sukkot, and the Chagim in Israel are exceptionally special. Just take a look at these few images. Just a few out of very many, of Sukkot in Israel.

Whether the Sukkah is way up high...

Tucked away in a corner...

Behind a tree...

Under a cloud...

Or when looking at a scene from far, you will see all the many many Sukkot...

Beautified and with its own window...

Or down the street.

All over there are Sukkot. Big ones, Little ones, Wooden ones, material ones. Simple ones, elaborate ones. All over Jews build their Sukkot and here is a scene to give you comfort.

In the diaspora there are places where it is dangerous to sleep in ones Sukkah or even to build one. Here you are part of one BIG family, all celebrating Sukkot together.
